Investigative Reporting

Horry News

Role: General assignments/crime reporter

While continuing to write via various mediums, my first love will always be as the crime reporter for my hometown newspaper. What started as a love for journalism in high school, turned into a full-time job out of college for a suite of weekly newspapers under the Waccamaw Publishers umbrella.

Starting out at the general assignments desk, I quickly became a regular at various local government meetings and crime scenes. It wasn’t all doom and gloom, I also was lucky enough to cover the yearly Yam Festival along with a local festival celebrating a southern chicken and rice dish, known as the Loris Bog Off.

A core memory of my life at the time, I was able to accomplish so many milestones as a reporter, including a front page byline, creating a cold case investigative series that resulted in solving a 20-year-old murder case and covering famous murder cases including the Brittanee Drexel disappearance and Baby Boy Horry.
